What’s App
WhatsApp uses the internet to make calls, send messages, images, audio or video. It is a Voice over IP service owned by Facebook and is the most popular messaging app. Over 1 billion people in over 180 countries use it. WhatsApp messages aren’t counted as part of your monthly SMS messaging allowance and are free to send if you’re on a wi-fi network or you have available data on your phone.
It is similar to Facebook Messenger which is not a standalone app but an extension of Facebook and requires an account to get started. WhatsApp is a standalone chat platform which only requires a mobile device and a mobile number.
We use both messenger and WhatsApp and find that WhatsApp often gets better reception than Messenger when making calls.
